Caron was founded in 1904 by Ernest Daltroff (1867-1941) who chose a short name, easy to remember in several languages while being associated with France. The headquarters are located at 10 rue de la Paix in Paris.
In 1906 Ernest Daltroff met Félicie Wanpouille (1874-1967), a young milliner who also worked on the rue de la Paix and introduced him to his clients and soon became his business partner and muse.
He created the perfumes, she created the bottles.
Perfumes and loose powder, which is still the thinnest in the world today, were distributed in France through a network of exclusive Parisian department stores and as early as 1923, Caron entered the American market.
Avant-garde in harmony with art and fashion, the Caron brand has managed to adapt to the significant changes of its times while remaining faithful to its tradition: even today the Maison continues to personally buy all the components used in its products, also taking care of their distillation. In 1988 Caron was bought by Patrick Ales, now the owner of one of the most beautiful rose gardens in the Loire Valley and president of the brand.
La Maison Caron is one of the few companies to have its creative nose inside: from Ernest Daltroff to Richard Fraysse, up to William Fraysse (the current nose), its perfumes continue to embody an unparalleled olfactory heritage. .
